Lapland buntings




Walking along the coast at the Bridges of ross...A small note of a song not familiar to me.." where is it" ...." got ya" .
Four Lapland bunting feeding feeding on seeds from the grasses that grow on the high reef, a good august record.

Glossy ibis at the Lagoon



A glossy ibis feeding at Shannon airport lagoon , staying mostly close within the reeds .
last time i saw one of these was Darwin dump in the northern territory.
Thousands of Black tailed godwits roost up at the lagoon, with Ruff , Little egret , Knot ,Redshank & a Spoonbill

Buff breasted sandpiper ,Lough donell

Ruff
Lough donell on a monday morning containing one Buff breasted sandpiper two Ruff and over 50 Snipe, nice to see a vagrant from the americas early in the season , a hard bird to see ,blends in well with the soroundings ,aggresive towards the Snipe

Knot at Liscannor



While giving a surf lesson yesterday i had a fly by ....by some sort of sandpiper.
today i came across this one Knot ant the top of the beach.. id say this was it.

Liscannor morning birdwatch





Liscannor harbour at first light on a overcast still morning , Kittiwake mix it up with the gulls , while small flocks of Greenshank shift about the rocks , Arctic terns teach the young how to feed in the bay, preparing for the journey ahead.
Ive the feeling its `Birding season`

Liscannor reefs





Ringed plover with young gather in there 20`s and 30`s, joined by Dunlin at the reefs of Liscannor , things are just lifening up.
