White tailed Eagle at the Kilkee Cliffs

 Take the coast road I said to myself.

Up from beneath the Kilkee Cliffs she came being harassed by Choughs soon a Raven and Rooks got involved and forced the young Eagle up high and over Kilkee town. I had blocked the road and the lad driving the tractor behind joined me to watch as she drifted back toward us high above us and then SW.

Grey Phalarope x3 Kilkee

  Three very approachable Grey Phalarope were doing their thing in the west end corner of Kilkee beach.

The one I found yesterday at Liscannor never came as close

Eider and the Long tailed Duck

 I was cruising the Clare coast looking for birds , I knew of an Eider that has been seen in Kilkee so I parked up and checked the bay.
 The Eider was only a few metres off the beach ,as I walked down to get some photos  a Long tailed Duck joined the Eider whom at 1st wasnt to impressed and hunted the LtD which gave me some flight shots, but it all soon calmed down

March Hare

A fine looking Irish Hare sits in open fields taking in the early morning sun. 

The morning  light bouncing of the cold wet grass making the Hare shine a kind of Golden

American Herring Gull - Kilkee

Yesterday afternoon/evening a American Herring Gull had been seen at Kilkee beach. 2nd County record.

 Early in morning I was in Kilkee, a few Gulls were about, mainly at both ends of the beach at high tide but with a beautiful morning the beach was busy with dogs and Gulls were not settled. I did some birdwatching for an hour in the bay then drove along the cliffs, came back and waited..

As the tide dropped back and got quieter Gulls were slowly coming to the beach , out of town and fields.

I was at the east end when I spotted a Darker Gull plunge diving in the shallows across the bay, grab scope ..American Herring Gull has arrived - 11am

AGP at Kilkee

This American Golden Plover has been hanging out on the shoreline at the SWcorner of Kilkee beach for over a week feeding around the rocks and seaweed with Sanderlings,Dunlin and Oystercatchers. Glad it stayed about for me to catch up with it.
