The Twite time at Clahane

Around the first few weeks of November Twite have a habit of dropping into Clahane to feed on seed on the roadside and edges of the sea walls. Linnets also come here in good numbers to do the same thing, but rarely do the flocks mix, the Twite just seem a bit more wary and tend to feed off the road in among the grasses and stones 

Yesterday morning I seen a single Twite , today Clahane  produced 10 Twite that were feeding well along the roadside and boulder field but disappeared after a Kestrel came through .

A year ago today I blogged 4 Twite at Clahane feeding behind the walls.
Today 7 Twite were doing the same thing on the same date.
 Saturday at Clahane can be a bit busy with walkers ,weekenders and the birds were a bit disturbed, but there was a small patch that the birds would return to.

The joys of Clahane, as you walk along the sea road Rock Pipits and Pied Wagtails feed on the road and wall to the West on the beach and reefs shorebirds such as Dunlin, Ringed Plover, Golden Plover, Redshanks, Divers  and Gulls  - to the East stoney semi flooded fields contain Skylarks, Curlew, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Stonechat and if you are lucky a Twite or 4

Twite at Clahane

I was walking along the sea road at Clahane on a crisp clear morning.

A colourful finch landed in the road and quickly flew over a garden wall." I swear that was a Twite"

I approached the wall looked over to see a Chaffinch.

I stuck around and sure enough a Twite landed on the sea wall and then headed into the rough ground along the roads and gardens, exactly the same spot where I saw one in 2009
