Sao Lourenco Bird Hide , Quito de Lago, Portugal

Me made our destination  to Sao Lourenco birdhide after a 26C  2 hour walk across the top of the Ludo.

Famous for its Little Bitterns which I've seen here before but not today.

Today Black headed Weavers were stealing the show with nesting colonies through the reed beds of the pond and just out from the Hide. Great to watch such specialist builders at work.

A Swamphen , Little Grebes, Red Crested Pochard, Pochard and Gadwall were on the lake.

On arriving at 8am at the carpark on Ayrton Senna avenue , we were straight into a fishing Osprey and a Kingfisher at the main lake.
Along the track round the Quinto do Lago lakes we saw Spoonbills, Cormorants, Egrets, Redshank, Bluethroat and Black Redstarts
Caspain Terns were in the air over the open waters
At the Soa Lourenco bird hide we saw Little Bittern, Purple Swamphen, Glossy Ibis, Pintail , Gadwall, and a few Tufted Duck
Azure winged Magpies House Sparrows and Hoopoes were abundant.

Ria Formosa Portugal. Part 3 . Quinto de Eucalypto

As you walk though the Quinto de Ludo its joins upto the Quinto de Eucalypto , a forest of Eucalyptus and Pine. The feeling was very Australian but the sounds were different.
Out in a clearing I could see a Black winged Kite sitting on a high post, Booted Eagles soared overhead calling. Gangs of Azure winged Magpie, Jays, Spottless Starlings were also seen.
