Clahane reef birds and Sandfield Barnacle Goose

  

Outside the invasion of Gulls on the middle reef a few birds were to be found foraging on the south reef with 8 Purple Sandpiper , 2 Greenshank , 15 Oystercatcher and 6 Brent Geese

On the way back home a lone Barnacle Goose was in the field along the river creek at Sandfield

Kilmacreedy high tide

 Kilmacreedy is the northside of Lahinch bay approaching Liscannor.

A small low pressure was close to the coast producing a one day swell of waves and wind from the southwest and it brought  a lot of Gulls to within Lahinch bay.

I sat up on the rocks near the graveyard and just let the birds pass me as they come across the bay.

Many Herring Gulls , Great Black backed Gulls, Kittiwake and Whimbrel were the commonest but a few Dunlin and a Bar tailed Godwit were travelling with the Whimbrel

The Barnacle Goose which I found the previous day flew in and landed in the field behind me.

Casting a look from Lurga point, Seafield out to Mutton island you can faintly see a few hundred Barnacle Geese ploughing the fields, as I was a little further along the coast at Clohnahinchy looking out to see a high flying flock of more Barnacle Geese came from the south and onto the Island.

Standing in a wet field full of cowshit searching the thickets along the west bank with my daughter Grace for Warblers when  two noisy Pink footed Geese and a Barnacle Goose  passed over us coming down in the Bull field below on the south side of Loop

Back at the Loop

On arrival in Kilbaha village a bunch of Chiffchaffs and a Willow warbler were feeding and singing in the gardens.

I made my way to the headland where  6 Barnacle Geese past over, and a Brambling has seen  and chased off by the Pipits

The usual gathering of Robins and Pipits scattered the headland , There were plenty of Choughs about and the Raven as usual harassed the peregrine.

Back down to the harbour a Brambling was with Chaffinchs in the trees above The Pandas Cottage
