Cuckoo flying round my Garden

I was in the kitchen doing what you do with the door open , but I was listening to the Cuckoo that was calling in the area as I worked away

See ,there is tricks to seeing the Cuckoo or it happens in a surprise chance moment..

After a short while of listening to the distance of the Cuckoo, the call came from the backyard but the Cuckoo saw me first and they dont stick around, it didnt go far, just down the lane calling from the trees again before the local Hooded Crows shoooed him off back towards mine .

1st Cuckoo of 2020

I was up early yesterday and outside my home on a lovely morning,
The call of Cuckoo was enough to take a morning walk, I know my local area and whereabouts of where Cuckoos are attracted to plus just follow the calls.
The Cuckoo was high in a Spruce been harassed by Meadow Pipits and a Redpoll pair
The morning also produced a calling Grasshopper Warbler, a Swallow, a small new influx of singing Blackcaps and Willow Warblers that had joined the morning Chorus.

Songs of a Sunny morning on a old road

I was on an old back road, on my way over to Doolin from Ennistymon.
There was`nt a cloud in the sky and the countryside was alive with birdsong. Cuckoo`s were abundant  (I got to see 8 in total , all at distance) , as were Grasshopper Warblers, Willow Warblers, SkyLarks, Mipits, Blackbirds,Pheasant and many more.

"Cuckoo Daddy"

Ive spent a few evenings listening to the Cuckoos with my 2 year old boy...The Cuckoo called on Tv while watching Springwatch and my boy responded " Daddy Cuckoo"..A day later " Daddy Cuckoo..Cuckoo".. and there was this Cuckoo on the post outside the kitchen.
Im still yet to get a clear good photo of a Cuckoo, and in a week they will be gone.

Spring air

One thing about spring is you dont have to travel and search for birds..quality birding can be at a local spot.
A morning walk reveals Blackbirds feeding young , Finches,Warblers ,Crows are at song and spring  arrivals such as the Cuckoo and Wheatear can be seen or heard once again.

Cuckoo

I had the pleasure of a few close encounters with Cuckoos over Doonagore in the past week, They keep one step ahead of you and are very quick to move off at human sighting. They are jumpy birds, always being harassed by local birds protecting there territory .....No Rest for the Wicked!
