Lahinch Spring days

A beautiful few days of spring we have had, Nowhere finer.With a good week of swell ...I hope this is not yet the summer.

With the weather fine we had an hour out on deck of the Ferry to Rosslare, as we approached Grassholm island we saw Gannets collecting nest material, we also spotted Puffins , Manxies, Razorbill, Guillemot and Kittiwake otherwise the ocean was quiet in the calm conditions

On the last morning and on the way back to the Pembroke ferry, we had a nature walk and Llyn llech owain, where we saw Buzzard, Reed buntings, Meadow pipits, Siskin , Nuthatch , Chifchaf , Bullfinch and Tits

Wenffrdd Marsh,...morning 2 & the Great White Egret

On our 2nd morning we  were greeted to the marsh by 5 Little Egret and a Great White Egret.

 We also saw 2 Ruff,a flock of Golden Plover and plenty of Shelduck and Carrion crow ,Lesser black backed gulls and a not so common Common gull

Wenffrdd Marsh, Gower ,Wales...morning 1

On a quick 3 day family visit to Wales , My father and I took 2 hours every morning to do a bit of local birding, from Wenffrdd marsh - Penclawdd.

A welsh Raptor special 1st morning . we got to see several Buzzard , Red Kites , Kestrel and a surprise Merlin.

South slob, Wexford

On my way to the Ferry in Rosslare  I took a small window of opportunity to to visit South Slob in Wexford. Arriving late afternoon at 4 Oclock, time was not on my side to find the Eastern Stonechat, I was not helped by a fine sighting of a Hen Harrier, numerous White fronted geese, Brent geese and Whooper swan and other distractions.

To find out by a farmer that the gate closes at 4:30 also didnt help, but the hour that i spent her has given me the insentive to return.I love unique habitats...anyhow I have a Ferry to Wales to catch..
