American Wigeon

I had the morning off and headed down the road to Shannon airport Lagoon to catch up with this 2cy American Wigeon that was found the day before

It showed well even though a little distant, but was easy enough to get some video through the scope

Common Blues around the lagoon

Common Blue Butterflies were  adding colour to the flora around the outskirts of Shannon airport Lagoon

Black-tailed Godwit Flyover

With the reeds encroaching over Shannon airport Lagoon ,birds are never really close enough to photo so you take what you can get. Still a nice quiet place to scope 400+ Black-tailed Godwit and a handful of Little Egret

Glossy ibis at the Lagoon

A glossy ibis feeding at Shannon airport lagoon , staying mostly close within the reeds .
last time i saw one of these was Darwin dump in the northern territory.
Thousands of Black tailed godwits roost up at the lagoon, with Ruff , Little egret , Knot ,Redshank & a Spoonbill

Sedge Warbler study

While at Shannon airport lagoon , i met Phillip Brennon of the BTO as he was ringing Sedge warblers
Some things can make a day, specialy when you least expect it.
