Clahane Shorebirds

 Its was nice to spend a bit of time at my local patch ,
Shorebirds like Greenshank ,Common Sandpipers ,Redshank ,Turnstone and Golden Plover are arriving along the coast .
A Mediteranean Gull was roosting up on the hightide with Common ,Black-headed and Herring Gulls
A pair of Ravens passed through along the cliff range and a Sparrowhawk passed low over the seasweed up the cliff and off over the fields hunting.
It wouldnt be Clahane without a few Rock Pipits

Greenshank 

An evening with very high tides,the high tide roost at Clahane can be a busy patch of reef, the incoming tide pushes the birds close to the road.
A nice flock of Golden Plover and 50 Brent Geese are joined by good numbers of Purple Sandpipers,Dunlin, Oystercatcher,Greenshank ,Redshank and Ringed Plover, and the 1st winter Glaucous Gull was with the usual Gulls.

Nice to here the call of the Whimbrel on our shoreline. Wader numbers are just rising into Autumn. Greenshank and Redshank are becoming more regular on the mudflats. Large numbers of Ringed plover hide between stones on the shore. The AGP was still at Doonbeg

With a big swell at high tide , the birds were pushed up toward the road. Redshank, Greenshank and Pipits were in number in the rain

Using the sea wall as cover ,the tide is pushing full , sun is going down.

Liscannor morning birdwatch

Liscannor harbour at first light on a overcast still morning , Kittiwake mix it up with the gulls , while small flocks of Greenshank shift about the rocks , Arctic terns teach the young how to feed in the bay, preparing for the journey ahead.
Ive the feeling its `Birding season`
