Crossbills visit Moanreel

A flock of Crossbills came to visit the Pines next to our home today while i was washing the car, a Sparrowhawk came though and with alarm calls to each other, all flew high in the air together.
I counted 14

Bluethroat

This Bluethroat has been hanging out at Clonea strand for nearly a month and should be around North Africa for winter...worth the drive to Waterford though.

The bird was quite elusive and  disappeared for some time making brief shows

 

Black Redstarts at Clonea strand

5 Black Redstarts were hanging along the shoreline of Clonea strand, Waterford, flitting between the hightide line and the gardens

Off Liscannor pier a lonely Loon drifts bye on the incoming tide to look for crabs and other crustaceans
