Bonxie at the Bridges and the Waders start to arrive

Up early and along the coast.

My 1st birds were at Quilty beach ,where a juvenile Greenshank came in off the sea with a scatty peep which were shortly chased by a male Peregrine.

The Bridges of Ross was quiet with only the 1 Bonxie among the steady flow of Manx and Gannets.

At Doonbeg a few Waders have arrived. Dunlin, Redshank, Oystercatcher, Ringed Plover and Whimbrel.

Sandwich Terns and shorebirds

An afternoon wander in the sun took me to Aughinish.

A Stoat was hunting the sea wall on the causeway, but even with a few sightings i never got the camera on it.

50 Sandwich Terns gathered on the exposed rocks and dry sandbanks of the pool that is low in water

Shorebirds around the pool and seashore included Ringed Plover, Oystercatcher, Dunlin, Redshank, Turnstone, Little Egret and Shelduck

Ringed Plover - Clahane

The Ringed Plovers can be seen all year along on our shorelines, strictly a coastal bird

A few pair nest here at Clahane every year, this adult bird was keeping an eye on me as the juveniles roamed the reef.

Back at Seafield

I was back at Seafield again this morning on the high tide.
Hundreds of juvenile Ringed Plover mixed with Dunlin, Sanderling and small numbers of Curlew Sandpiper were running the shoreline wash.

Clahane shorebirds

Shorebirds are arriving in numbers to our shores now and into september.

Clahane at low tide was showing many juvenile Ringed Plovers which are all over every reefs on the west coast, Knot and Dunlin are on a feeding mission while the tide is out. Many Turnstones are hidden among the seaweed.

Ringed Plovers success

A pair of Ringed Plovers that nested less that 1/2 metre of the side of the road successfully hatching 3 chicks, 2 days later the birds have made it across the road, but now with only 2 chicks..... 2 out of 3 aint bad.

A pair of Ringed Plovers have a raised few chicks on a rough stoney plateau on the edge of the Cliffs of Moher. I hope the young ones stay clear of the Herring gulls that glide along the cliffs edges.

Liscannor reefs

Ringed plover with young gather in there 20`s and 30`s, joined by Dunlin at the reefs of Liscannor , things are just lifening up.

A Clahane mid april

The shoreline at Clahane at this time of year abundant in birds. Whimbrel , Ringed plover , Golden plover , Purple sandpiper, White wagtail and numerous Gulls all roosting and feeding here

Three Kilbaha locals

Dunlin , Ringed Plover @ a Snipe ,all can be viewed while having a pint in Keatings bar ( what more can you ask)
