The build up of seaweed at seafield ,Quilty is a huge attraction to a variety of birds , Dunlin ,Purple sandpipers, Gulls,Rooks ,Turnstone and Wagtails forage the insect rich seaweed muck. Shags, Cormorants and Divers
feed just offshore

Merlin at Clahane


A Merlin was out hunting Rock pipit and Starling at Clahane this morning in the rain.
After wizzing past me on the rocks i didnt expect it to be perched on a roof top  further down the road. I drove past got out and crept up around the house....Boo..GOTTCHA

A big westerly storm has built up numbers of Gull on the coast.
Here a Iceland Gull and a Glaucous Gull cruise around Clahane in 50 mph wind , joining hundreds of Herring ,Common and Black headed gull for fine dining on seaweed insects washed into the sea by the waves
